About Me
My name is Chad C. Copley. I am a 44-year-old man. I am a son, a brother, someone’s fiancé, a father of three, and a grandfather of three. Most people that know me would say I am funny, kind, honest, and genuine. Down to earth. An all-around good guy.
I grew up in a small town in West Virginia. After I finished high school, I moved to North Carolina with some friends. And for the most part I have resided there ever since. I did move to Virginia for a brief period, where I had gotten a job working for my best friend. He owns a contracting business there. But eventually I moved back to North Carolina.
I had never been in any legal trouble before. I have always tried to lead a good law-abiding life. I have always gotten along well with others. And I have tried to be the absolute best father I could be. I am not perfect. But I would say that I am a good person.
I have had extensive background checks done for previous employment. One allowing me to enter the Virginia Air and Space Center through Nasa when I was working for my friends contracting business. And for a different job, one allowing me to enter Butner Federal Prison in Butner North Carolina. I was allowed to enter both places. That proves that I am an honorable and law-abiding person.
For the last five years I have been incarcerated because of an unwise decision I made one night, out of fear for the lives of my children. I do take full responsibility for my mistakes and will forever feel remorse. But I am not a murderer. And I am not racist. I have never been a violent person. And prior to the crime I was charged with from five years ago, I had never committed a violent crime of any type. I am not the monster the media has made me out to look like.
During the time I have been incarcerated, I have felt guilt and regret for my actions from what happened five years ago. But now I am ready to put in the effort necessary to move on with my life. I have learned from my past, and continue to grow from my experiences in prison. I have had a clean record of behavior during my incarceration. And I have gotten a job unloading trucks. I would say I have been a model prisoner.
In May of 2021, I was reunited with an old friend from school. She had been my crush since I was in middle school. So, you can just imagine how happy I was to receive a letter from her one day, just out of the blue. After that, we continued writing each other often. And we started talking on the phone every day. At last, she fell head over heels in love with me. And I have discovered that she is my soulmate. The love of my life. She and I are very much in love, and would so much appreciate the opportunity to get to spend the rest of our lives together.
And I would like the chance to be a part of my children’s lives. And be the father I was meant to be. The father they need and love so very much. And I want to be a part of my grandchildren’s lives. I want to meet them, and spend time with them. Let them get to know me.
I have always had a passion for cutting hair, and would like to have the opportunity to get into barber school and open my own shop one day. I want to be a productive member of society again. I want to spend time with my children, and my grandchildren. And I want to marry the woman I have been in love with for most of my life.
